Italian cities boost recycling: Napoli tops 45% and Crotone reaches 55%

The municipal waste‑management firm Asìa reported that recycling in Napoli has risen above 45%, with an average annual increase of about three percentage points over the past two years. The city aims to add another 2.5 points by year‑end through expanded street collection, door‑to‑door services and new collection vehicles slated for tender later this year. Asìa also plans an industrial plan by September to improve efficiency and autonomy.

In Crotone, the waste‑service company Akrea Spa announced that the city’s recycling rate hit 55% in July, following the introduction of a door‑to‑door system in the Parco Samà area. Official figures for June showed a rate of 49.05%, up from 39.15% in 2025, indicating a steady rise in participation and sorting quality.

Both cities attribute the improvements to increased citizen involvement, operational upgrades, and targeted investments in collection infrastructure.
