Italian cities implement special measures for All Souls' Day

Naples and Palermo are implementing specific logistical plans to manage the expected influx of visitors for the upcoming commemoration of the deceased.

In Naples, the municipality has established a traffic plan for October 31, November 1, and November 2, effective from 7:00 to 13:00. The plan includes driving bans and forced removals in areas such as Largo Santa Maria del Pianto, Via del Riposo, and Via Nuova Poggioreale to manage access to the Poggioreale cemeteries. Local flower merchants have expressed dissatisfaction, claiming the restrictions will make it difficult for customers to reach their stalls.

In Palermo, municipal cemeteries including Rotoli, Santa Maria di Gesù, and Capuccini will undergo preparatory work and remain closed on October 28, 29, and 30. For the commemorative days, special opening hours have been set: October 31 from 8:00 to 13:30, and November 1 and 2 from 8:00 to 17:00. To assist visitors, the city is providing reinforced medical posts, shuttle services, and accessible transport to support the elderly and people with disabilities.
