Italian cities implement traffic and infrastructure changes

Local authorities in Italy are implementing changes to urban traffic management and infrastructure projects in Casale Monferrato and Reggio Emilia.

In Casale Monferrato, traffic light phases at the intersection of Via Cavour, Viale Bistolfi, Via Oddone, and Viale Piave have been modified. Pedestrian crossings have transitioned from a cyclic system to a demand-based system. Pedestrians must now use a button to activate the crossing. This change aims to improve vehicle flow during peak hours by preventing unnecessary stops when no pedestrians are present, while maintaining safety standards.

In Reggio Emilia, new construction works at Porta Santa Croce are set to begin on August 24. The project, managed by Arca/Iren Acqua Reggio, involves the creation of a new sewage collector under the railway network and a pedestrian-cycle underpass. For approximately five weeks, the 'Onda Verde' traffic flow will be reduced to a single lane between Viale Piave and Viale Isonzo. Additionally, traffic restrictions will affect Viale Ramazzini, with specific access rules in place for residents until October 2.
