Poggibonsi pedestrian bridge construction begins to link Vallone parking with historic centre

Construction has started on a pedestrian bridge that will connect the Vallone multilevel parking facility with Via San Francesco, providing direct access to Poggibonsi’s historic centre. The project, costing €160,000, is co‑financed by the Tuscany Region (€100,000) and the municipality (€60,000) under the “Universal Accessibility in Local Territories” programme. Mayor Susanna Cenni and Deputy Mayor Fabio Carrozzino said the bridge will remove the existing architectural barrier, improve safety and enhance the area’s accessibility. Work will begin next week, with the section of Via San Francesco between Via Simone Martini and Via Trieste closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays between 22 June and the expected completion on 10 July. Emergency vehicles will retain access, and additional adjustments to the parking structure’s elevator are included to integrate the new ramp.
