Italian cities launch new school support services for families

Municipalities in Italy are implementing new initiatives to support families with school-related services. In Voghera, registrations for pre- and post-school services will open on September 1. The municipality has committed to accepting all applications for the 2026-2027 school year without a maximum cap on available spots, provided each location reaches a minimum of ten enrollees. The service, organized by Fondazione Adolescere in collaboration with the local government, will cover 14 sites including primary and nursery schools.

In Bologna, a new experimental project titled ‘La scuola che parte insieme’ (The school that starts together) will offer free services at 22 school sites. Funded by the Emilia-Romagna region and supported by the Municipality of Bologna, the program aims to provide social and educational opportunities for primary school students from the second to fifth grade. The service will run from August 31 to September 11, offering laboratory, educational, and sporting activities to help children transition into the new school year.
