Italian cities launch urban greening and pedestrianization projects

Various Italian municipalities are launching urban redevelopment projects focused on pedestrianization and green infrastructure.

In Bari, construction is set to begin on October 12 for the pedestrianization of the Starita seafront near the San Cataldo lighthouse. The 4 million euro project aims to transform the current roadway into a unified pedestrian and cycling space featuring green areas, stone paving, and social spaces. This initiative is part of a broader waterfront regeneration plan for San Cataldo.

In Oristano, works worth 371,000 euros have been awarded to LSA Costruzioni for the redevelopment of tree-lined avenues. The project, part of a larger 610,000 euro initiative, includes Via Cagliari and the grounds of the Leonardo Alagon middle school. The plan focuses on increasing greenery, installing drought-resistant plants, and using permeable paving to combat heat islands and improve urban sustainability.
