Italian cities prepare major Christmas light displays for 2026

Several Italian municipalities are preparing extensive light installations for the 2026 Christmas season to boost tourism and local commerce.

In Tortona, the municipal government has unanimously approved a plan to illuminate the historic center and all outlying districts. The initiative aims to support the urban commercial district and local businesses through coordinated aesthetic and technical installations, including decorated trees in main squares.

In Monopoli, the second edition of the ‘Illuminandia’ project will transform the city into a 15,000-square-meter holiday park. The theme for 2026 is based on the works of Carlo Collodi, using the world of Pinocchio to create interactive light installations and theatrical scenery. The project seeks to establish the Adriatic town as one of Europe’s largest Christmas light parks.
