Italian Cities Push Forward Key Metro and Sewer Projects
In Genoa, the municipal assessor for Public Works and Maintenance, Massimo Ferrante, outlined the August schedule for the Brin‑Canepari metro extension. The programme includes the start of reinforcement work on the tunnel’s foundation slab, the installation and testing of a tower crane to serve the Canepari station site, and the subsequent placement of reinforcement for the station’s foundation slab.
In Reggio Emilia, work on the new Porta Santa Croce underground sewer collector begins on 24 August. The project, led by Arca/Iren Acqua Reggio, will involve deep‑soil drilling beneath the railway line, the creation of two large‑diameter wells, and the use of high‑pressure cement columns to form concrete walls, minimizing surface disruption. Multiple utility operators are coordinating to relocate gas, water, electricity and fiber‑optic networks as part of the broader redevelopment of the historic district.
