Italian cities restore historic public spaces in Foggia and Senigallia

In Foggia, a newly renovated flowerbed surrounding the fountain in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, located in front of the main railway station, was inaugurated. The project, carried out by the municipal administration together with the Lions Club Foggia Host, involved planting new vegetation, soil work and landscaping to improve the visual impact of the city’s primary entry point. Vice‑mayor and public‑green delegate Lucia Aprile attended the ceremony and thanked the Lions Club for its contribution.

In Senigallia, heritage group Italia Nostra criticised the limited progress of wall restoration works. While a recent restoration of the section from Porta Mazzini to the theatre’s bastion was praised, the organisation highlighted that work on other wall stretches, including the area behind the castle and the former bastion on Via Rodi, remains stalled. Italia Nostra called for a comprehensive plan, better maintenance of surrounding trees, and the creation of a multi‑storey parking facility to free up space for the historic walls.
