Viadotto Mariani on SS76 reopened, restoring Perugia‑Ancona traffic

The southern carriageway of the Viadotto Mariani on the SS76 has been reopened, ending a closure that began in 2018. The viaduct is part of the Quadrilatero Marche‑Umbria corridor, built by Webuild for Anas.

Reopening the south lane restores continuity on the Perugia‑Ancona route, reducing detours and travel times for motorists and easing pressure on local roads that were used as alternatives during the closure. Technical works included a new pier, an additional shoulder, a 30‑metre span, and upgrades to the Sassi Rossi tunnels (1 × 141 m, 2 × 572 m) to meet current standards.

The work is a major step in the Maxilotto 2 program, which aims to complete a roughly 67‑km network of tunnels, viaducts and interchanges linking Umbria and Marche by the end of the month, further improving safety and connectivity across the central Apennines.
