Italian cities unveil multi‑million‑euro plans to revive former industrial and railway sites

The municipality of Genoa is preparing a technical‑economic feasibility study for the renovation of the former Ansaldo Cerusa complex in Voltri, known as the Capannoni di Voltri. The building, now used for sports activities, is estimated to need between €1.5 million and €2 million for structural repairs and the extension of its port‑authority concession, which currently hampers long‑term investment.

In Parma, the city council approved a €39.5 million restructuring plan for the Area Stazione STU public company, which has been liquidated since 2003. The plan calls for a full write‑off of the company’s bank debt, a land swap with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, and new financing of €8.1 million, aiming to free the railway‑zone and enable urban redevelopment by 2027.
