Italian city parks draw record crowds for 2026 community sport festivals

The "Sport al Parco" programme organised by the Comune di Brescia recorded more than 11,000 total attendances in its 2026 edition, continuing a steady rise from 6,760 participants in 2022. From 2 June to 31 July the city hosted 76 weekly free sessions in its parks, offering gymnastics, functional training, Pilates, Tai Chi, yoga, Nordic walking, disc‑golf, canoeing, stand‑up paddle (SUP) and two new disciplines – Yoga SUP and postural gymnastics. Popular classes such as Pilates (3,145 attendances) and Tai Chi (2,079) topped the list, while the newly introduced activities also attracted strong interest.

On 20 September, Parco Nord Milano held the "Festa dello Sport 2026", turning the park’s fields into free‑access sport zones for the public. The day featured matches, competitions and demo lessons run by dozens of local sport associations, a plogging activity linked to World Cleanup Day, and a food‑service point. Participation required online registration, and the event highlighted themes of outdoor wellbeing, community health and environmental stewardship.
