Italian civic education events focus on environment, legality and democratic values

Two separate gatherings in Italy highlighted civic and environmental education as part of broader programmes promoting democratic participation. On 18 May, the Diocesan “Scuola del Dialogo” in Asti hosted a discussion titled “Environment and landscape: what value for caring for the common home?” with speakers including parish priest Luca Solaro and Professor Luigi Fusco‑Girard, emphasizing ecological services, landscape health and sustainable urban development.

A week later, on 16 May in Catania, the final session of the “Scuola di Formazione per il Bene Comune” featured two witnesses of justice as part of a series on legality and civil ethics, underscoring the role of rules and civic responsibility in societal well‑being. Both events aim to deepen public understanding of constitutional values, environmental stewardship and the rule of law.

The programmes are supported by local religious institutions, academic partners and civil‑society organisations, offering participants educational credits and encouraging broader community engagement with these critical issues.
