Italian clubs face frozen summer transfer market

Italian football clubs are confronting a stalled summer transfer market. Serie C side Catanzaro has seen all outgoing deals put on hold while negotiations continue over a two‑million‑euro fee for a potential move involving Pontisso and Cremonese. The club is also evaluating offers for players such as Cocchi, who is linked with Padova, and the futures of Giovanni Volpe and Marcello Piras, set to join the pre‑season camp in Livigno.

Meanwhile Serie A club Fiorentina is active in the market, securing defender Radu Dragusin on loan from Tottenham with a €1.5 million fee and an obligatory purchase option, and completing the €15 million permanent signing of Brazilian defender Viery. The club also added goalkeeper Jimenez on loan from Bournemouth with a right of purchase, and reached an agreement for youth prospect Valdepenas, a Real Madrid academy player, to join on loan. Both clubs are assessing further defensive and attacking reinforcements as the transfer window progresses.
