Italian coastal heritage featured in upcoming Rai 1 broadcasts

Rai 1 will broadcast two maritime-themed programs on September 19, focusing on the diverse landscapes and histories of the Italian coast.

“Navigando lungocosta” concludes its season with a journey from Castiglioncello to the Gulf of La Spezia. The episode features Fabio Gallo and Maurizio Anzillotti traveling to Portovenere, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its historical connection to 19th-century poets. The program also explores the Cinque Terre region, including Riomaggiore, through interviews with park officials and local wine producers.

“Linea Blu – Porti d’Italia” will feature Piombino, Tuscany. Hosted by Donatella Bianchi and Livio Beshir, the episode examines the intersection of nature and industry. The journey begins at the Gulf of Baratti and the ancient Etruscan site of Populonia, highlighting its historical role in iron commerce. The program then transitions to the modern industrial port of Piombino, showcasing the contemporary movement of steel, coal, and energy products.
