Italian coastal towns boost night police patrols for summer tourism

The municipality of Amalfi has extended the daily shifts of its municipal police force until 4 a.m., a measure that will remain in place at least until mid‑September. The extension, made possible by the national “Decree Sicurezza”, was announced by Mayor Daniele Milano, who said it provides a tangible result for citizens and addresses the higher safety needs during the peak tourist season.

In the province of Fermo, Prefect Edoardo D’Alascio announced two complementary actions to strengthen summer security. The “Malamovida” prevention protocol has been broadened, with more beach establishments in Porto San Giorgio, Porto Sant’Elpidio and Fermo joining the scheme. At the same time, the Prefecture has created reinforced vigilance zones in Porto San Giorgio – covering the railway station, Piazza Matteotti, Via Crispi, Piazza Gaslini and a stretch of the Lungomare Gramsci – with additional preventive measures that will be in force until 30 September. Both initiatives aim to ensure a safe and orderly environment for tourists and residents alike.
