Italian coastal towns Chioggia and Pesaro tighten music and nightlife rules

In Chioggia, the mayor agreed to revise the municipal ordinance governing music playing hours after Confcommercio raised concerns that the existing limits could hurt seasonal tourism and local businesses. The proposed changes aim to balance residents’ right to quiet with the economic importance of evening entertainment.

In Pesaro, a new ordinance effective 13 June requires venues hosting live music or DJ sets to keep security personnel on site for up to two hours after events end, to ensure public safety and clean up surrounding areas. The rule also bans glass‑container takeaway drinks and obliges operators to maintain the cleanliness of nearby public spaces. Both measures are intended to protect residents, preserve urban decorum, and support the towns’ tourist appeal during the summer season.
