Italian coastal towns experience electricity outages
Porto Potenza on the Adriatic coast suffered a 13‑hour blackout after heat‑related faults in the power grid left the town and the southern part of Porto Recanati without electricity from the afternoon of June 30. The outage disrupted homes, businesses and tourism venues, prompting Enel to deploy generators and repair crews while the municipal authorities set up temporary power supplies. The Democratic Party criticised the frequency of such interruptions, calling them unsustainable and demanding urgent action.
In Positano, E‑distribuzione announced a scheduled power cut on 5 August 2026, lasting from 05:00 to 09:30, to carry out essential maintenance on low‑voltage lines. The notice listed the affected streets and urged residents to avoid using elevators and to exercise caution during the interruption.
