Italian coastal towns extend beach season and reduce fees

Local administrations in Sicily and Sardinia are implementing measures to extend the summer tourism season into October.

In Catania, the municipal administration has decided to keep free beaches and the San Giovanni Li Cuti solarium open through October. This decision follows positive feedback from the summer season and aims to allow residents and tourists to continue using the coastline. Specific closing dates vary by location: Beach No. 2 remains open until October 4, the San Giovanni Li Cuti solarium until October 25, and Beaches No. 1 and No. 3 until October 31.

In Villasimius, Sardinia, the local government is reducing entry fees to attract visitors during the low season. The ticket for the Punta Molentis beach has been halved from ten euros to five euros per person. Additionally, the fee for Porto Sa Ruxi has been reduced from ten euros to five euros per car. Mayor Gianluca Dessì stated that these reductions aim to support local economic activities that have faced challenges due to previous access restrictions.
