Italian communities host photography exhibitions to preserve local history

Local communities in Italy are utilizing photography exhibitions to preserve and share their historical identities.

In Brusciano, the association Brusciano SiCura, led by Antonio Castaldo, has launched the ‘Percorso fotografico nella storia e nella tradizione di Brusciano’. This initiative uses images and documents to trace the town's history from its roots in Bruxianum to the present day, aiming to connect different generations through shared memory.

Similarly, in Cannigione, a photographic exhibition curated by Gianni Filigheddu and the Associazione San Giovanni Battista is being held at the Monsignor Romero oratory. The display highlights the village's origins in agriculture, livestock, and subsistence fishing before the rapid tourism expansion of the 1960s. The collection documents historical processions, early architecture, and the community's traditional links to the gulf and La Maddalena.
