Italian communities restore and reopen religious sites

In Terlizzi, the community of Santa Maria della Stella has come together to restore the church's courtyard following an act of vandalism where planters were overturned and damaged. Led by parish priest Don Nino Prisciandaro, local groups including Action Católica, catechists, and the Puliamo Terlizzi association participated in repositioning the planters and cleaning the area to transform the incident into an act of communal care.

In Aci Bonaccorsi, the church of Santa Lucia Vergine e Martire e San Gaetano has officially reopened to the public. The reopening follows seismic restoration and improvement works costing approximately 300,000 euros, aimed at repairing damage caused by the 2018 Santo Stefano earthquake. The ceremony was presided over by Bishop Antonino Raspanti of Acireale, marking a significant step in the region's post-earthquake reconstruction efforts.
