Italian cooperatives focus on regional growth and EU policy
Italian cooperative organizations are engaging in regional and international efforts to strengthen economic ties and influence policy. In Lombardy, Coop Lombardia has launched 'La Lombardia di Coop,' a project designed to highlight the cooperative's relationship with the local territory. Beyond retail, the initiative emphasizes how the cooperative supports regional production chains by purchasing local products and services, fostering relationships with regional businesses and farmers to maintain economic value within the area.
In Brussels, the Legacoop Romagna presidency met with MEP Stefano Bonaccini to discuss critical issues facing the cooperative sector. The discussions focused on the energy crisis, rising raw material costs, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the new European budget, and proposed public procurement regulations. The delegation emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue between European institutions and local territories to ensure stability amidst international crises.
