Italian Councilor Marco Forconi Sparks Controversy with Zombie Shooting Video Amid Ceuta Migration Crisis
Montesilvano councilor Marco Forconi, a member of Fratelli d'Italia, posted a video from a shooting range in which he aimed a smooth‑bore rifle and joked about “zombies” and “aliens” as a metaphor for a potential migrant invasion. The clip quickly amassed over 5,000 views and provoked strong reactions, with critics accusing him of inflaming tensions while supporters defended it as a harmless joke.
The video was released as the Spanish enclave of Ceuta faced one of its worst migration emergencies, when more than 50,000 migrants attempted to cross the border and 84 people died. Forconi said the footage had been planned long before the crisis and emphasized that he would “never shoot at clandestine migrants.” He also hinted at leaving Fratelli d'Italia for the new Futuro Nazionale party and reiterated his view that the Schengen agreement should have been suspended years ago.
The incident has reignited debate in Italy over immigration policy, political rhetoric, and the limits of provocative communication by public officials.
