Italian councilor Simona Vitali fined €10,531 over election posters

Simona Vitali, a councilor in the town of Gualdo Tadino, was ordered to pay a fine of €10,531.50 for displaying two election posters on the windows of the party's electoral headquarters. After the municipal council of Gualdo Tadino rejected her appeal, Vitali chose to forgo further legal action and remain in office.

Fratelli d'Italia, Vitali's party, denounced the amount as disproportionate, arguing that similar poster installations have been used by candidates from other parties without comparable sanctions. The party also highlighted a pending incompatibility review by the municipal council triggered by the legal dispute.
