Italian court issues sentences for alcohol test refusal and stadium assault

In separate legal developments in Italy, a court in Udine has sentenced 51-year-old Leonardo Crainich to six months of arrest, a fine, and a 18-month driver's license suspension for refusing an alcohol test following a vehicle accident in September 2025. Crainich, who intends to appeal, claims he waited 11 hours at the Udine emergency room without being tested before leaving by bus. Authorities stated the procedure was closed after an attempt to contact him at 1:30 AM went unanswered.

In Teramo, the police commissioner has issued a five-year ban from all sporting events to a 57-year-old man following an assault on journalist Silvia Trillini. During a Giulianova-Ancona football match, the individual struck a plexiglass divider with such force that it shattered, causing the journalist to require ten stitches to her forehead. The man has been charged with aggravated injury and property damage.
