Italian Court rejects appeals in Salerno-Avellino drug trafficking case

The Italian Court of Cassation has rejected appeals from four individuals involved in a major drug trafficking network operating between the Irpinia and Agro Nocerino-Sarnese regions. The ruling confirms the continued detention of Mario D’Angelo, Gianluca Alfieri, Raffaele Taddio, and Giulio De Feo.

Mario D’Angelo is identified by investigators as a leader of the group, which allegedly managed the transport of large quantities of cocaine and hashish from Spain and Albania to supply markets in Avellino, Salerno, and Irpinia. The group reportedly provided logistics and supplies to the Fezza-De Vivo clan.

The defense attempted to challenge the territorial jurisdiction of the Salerno prosecutor's office, arguing the case should be moved to Naples due to the group's operations in Irpinia. However, the court dismissed this objection, maintaining Salerno's jurisdiction. The investigation, coordinated by the Salerno District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) and the Guardia di Finanza, has led to immediate judgment decrees for the defendants.
