Italian Court Upholds Bormio Tangential Road Project

The Council of State (Tar) rejected the appeal filed by the Comitato per l'Alute and other parties against the tangential road planned for the Alute plain in Bormio. The court confirmed that the project, involving the Comune di Bormio, Regione Lombardia and the Soprintendenza, complied with environmental, technical and mobility regulations. It affirmed that the Regional Authorisation Decree remains valid and that the procedural review was complete and transparent.

Mayor Silvia Cavazzi, speaking on behalf of the municipal administration, highlighted that the project has been part of regional planning since 2005 and was accelerated by the 2019 Olympic Games. The ruling validates the ongoing construction and the granted extensions for work start and completion dates.
