Italian Courts Block Maddaloni Land‑Use Change, Order Bassano Family Home Review

The Regional Administrative Court (Tar) rejected a petition by Azienda Agricola Terre Mie s.r.l. that sought to overturn the municipality of Maddaloni's decision to keep a former industrial complex—covering more than 49,000 m² and previously used by Face Standard, Alcatel and Mf Componenti—as an integrated services and plant area. The court affirmed the municipality's discretion in urban planning and dismissed all four grounds of the appeal, confirming that the site cannot be re‑designated for industrial, manufacturing, artisanal or commercial use.

In a separate proceeding, the Tar of Lazio intervened in a dispute between the Miravam cooperative and the municipality of Bassano in Teverina. The court noted the municipality's failure to provide a clear justification for suspending and ultimately rejecting the authorization for a residential care home for minors. It ordered the local administration to submit all relevant documentation and a detailed explanatory report within 20 days, and postponed further rulings on the precautionary request and legal costs pending review of the material provided.
