Italian courts detain men in two intimidation cases
A 47‑year‑old man from Riccione was placed in pre‑trial detention after investigators linked him to aggravated stalking, repeated threatening messages and property damage against his former partner and her family. Evidence, including phone records and chat logs, showed a campaign of harassment that escalated to an assault on the victim’s home and damage to her car on 13 June, prompting the court in Rimini to order custody.
A 49‑year‑old resident of Casarano in the Salento region was also arrested and ordered to remain in custody for a three‑year series of intimidation against a 42‑year‑old man and his relatives. Prosecutors allege the suspect orchestrated multiple shootings, the placement of homemade explosive devices and arson attacks on vehicles and homes, the latest documented on 28 March 2026. The attacks are said to stem from a personal grievance, and the court deemed there was a risk of further violent acts.
