Italian Courts Grant Appeals Success to Former Politician and Land Occupier

The Court of Appeal in Naples upheld a favorable ordinance for former Economy undersecretary Nicola Cosentino, reducing his sentence and opening the possibility of further penalty cuts. His lawyers have filed a cassation appeal, and a request for probation and social‑service supervision will be considered by the Perugia surveillance tribunal.

Separately, the Court of Appeal of Catanzaro acquitted Rossanese resident F.G. of all charges related to illegal occupation of municipal land, overturning a first‑degree conviction that had imposed eleven months’ imprisonment and a €550 fine. The defense, led by lawyer Francesco Nicoletti, succeeded in having the verdict fully reversed.
