Italian courts impose prison terms for elderly home robberies

In Grosseto, a court sentenced Samuel Rossi, 42, and Alba Proli, 36, to three years and eight months in prison each for a home invasion of an 83‑year‑old resident on 10 September. The pair threatened the victim with a knife, immobilised her with tape, and stole a small amount of jewelry, while also receiving fines of €1,423, a five‑year ban from public office, and confiscation of devices used in the crime.

Separately, police in Turin detained two men suspected of a series of burglaries targeting elderly occupants in the Turin metropolitan area between January and March 2026. The suspects allegedly posed as municipal workers or police officers to gain entry, stealing cash, jewellery and watches worth more than €100,000 across multiple municipalities, including a robbery on 18 March in Borgaro Torinese. The men are currently held in custody pending further investigation.
