Italy judicial updates: multiple convictions and arrests
Several significant judicial developments have been finalized in Italy. In Riccione, a 49-year-old personal trainer received a definitive sentence of four years and eleven months for sexual violence, physical injury, threats, and domestic abuse against his former partner. The Supreme Court of Cassation rejected his appeal, concluding the legal process.
In Campobasso, Donato Corsillo and Antonietta Iapaolo were arrested following a definitive five-year sentence for kidnapping and domestic abuse. The couple had kept Lucia Corsillo segregated in a room without heating or bathroom facilities for approximately twenty years.
In the Aeolian Islands, a 46-year-old man from Sri Lanka was arrested in flagrante on the island of Vulcano. He is accused of aggravated sexual violence against a minor during a ferry crossing from Messina. Authorities confirmed the assault using onboard surveillance footage.
Other notable rulings include a 12-year sentence for Samuele Battistella in Trieste for the death of Shimpei Tominaga, and a request for nearly 900 years of prison time for 72 members of the Fezza-De Vivo clan in Salerno for mafia association, extortion, and drug trafficking.
