Italian courts order immediate trials in two separate attempted murder cases

A judge in Lecce has ordered an immediate trial for Giuseppe Giannone, a 76‑year‑old man from Calimera, accused of attempting to kill his son Luca Giannone with a pair of tailor’s scissors and of illegally possessing a semi‑automatic pistol. The violent clash occurred on 28 June in a family home in Roca di Melendugno, leaving Luca with severe chest and abdominal injuries that required emergency surgery. The first hearing is set for 4 November.

In a separate case in the Friuli‑Venezia Giulia region, 35‑year‑old Sara Comand, known on social media for her work as a cartomante, has been detained after allegedly stabbing her ex‑partner Cristian Dulcinati with a kitchen knife in Driolassa, near Udine. Dulcinati was hospitalized with serious but non‑life‑threatening wounds. A validation hearing for Comand’s arrest took place on 1 August, and she remains in custody in Trieste pending further proceedings.
