Liliana Resinovich case: unidentified DNA found on clothing
New forensic evidence has emerged in the investigation into the death of Liliana Resinovich, who disappeared in December 2021 and was found dead in the woods of a former psychiatric hospital in Trieste. Technical experts have identified traces of unidentified male DNA on the victim’s jeans and on one of the black bags used to contain her body.
Further findings from the expert report indicate that the soles of Resinovich’s shoes did not contain traces of the soil from the location where her body was discovered. This has led legal representatives for the victim's family to suggest she may have been killed elsewhere and subsequently moved to the site.
The analysis also confirmed a “direct contact” between the jacket worn by her husband, Sebastiano Visintin—the sole person under investigation—and the victim’s clothing and bag on the day of her disappearance. These findings are scheduled to be discussed during a hearing on October 30.
