Italian courts reduce stalking sentence and revoke alternative measure, sending two men to prison
A court of appeal in Lecce reduced the conviction of a 63‑year‑old man from Tricase for stalking his ex‑wife, lowering the penalty to six months and twenty days and removing a lifelong ban from public office. The original sentence of three years and six months was imposed in first instance.
Separately, a 51‑year‑old man originally from Calabria and residing in Casalgrande saw his alternative‑to‑imprisonment arrangement cancelled by the Tribunal of Supervision in Bologna. After the benefit was declared lapsed, he was taken into custody by Carabinieri on 9 June and ordered to serve the six‑month prison term previously suspended.
