Italian courts sentence lab technician for student abuse and mother for daughter’s murder

A 48‑year‑old laboratory technician at the Bodoni Paravia high school in Turin was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison for multiple counts of sexual abuse of female students. The court also imposed a €200 fine on the school’s director and acting headmaster for failing to report the offenses.

In a separate case in Sardinia, a 54‑year‑old woman was convicted of murdering her 13‑year‑old daughter with a knife. Prosecutors sought a 16‑year prison term, citing partial mental incapacity, while the defense highlighted a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia. The woman is now serving her sentence in a secure residential facility.
