Torino: investigation into child neglect in Montessori-style home

An investigation in the province of Torino has uncovered severe neglect involving two children living in a home that claimed to follow Montessori pedagogical principles. The minors were reportedly found living in conditions where they were frequently nearly naked, lacked proper documentation, and had not received vaccinations.

Authorities documented that the children were cared for exclusively through homeopathy and were not enrolled in any formal schooling. The parents are currently facing charges of maltreatment following reports of physical and psychological violence. The children were placed in the care of their grandmother last year for their protection. The mother has attempted to justify the living conditions by citing alleged abuse from her former partner and has expressed an intention to move abroad with the children.
