Italian criminal investigations see new evidence and procedural delays

Investigations into two separate criminal cases in Italy are progressing with new developments.

In the investigation into the death of Carmela Bifano in Corigliano-Rossano, authorities have recovered a T-shirt belonging to her husband, Pietro Scintu, who is currently in custody. The garment was found in a plastic bag and appeared partially burned in an orchard in the Torre Voluta area. This discovery contradicts Scintu’s previous statement that he had simply left the shirt hanging on a branch due to the heat. Investigators are now working to determine how the shirt ended up in a bag and why it shows signs of fire damage.

In a separate case in Pietracatella involving the ricin poisoning deaths of Antonella and Sara Di Vita, the decisive interrogation of Alice Di Vita has been postponed. The investigation is focusing on inconsistencies that emerged during recent tense questioning of other individuals. Authorities are examining the timeline leading up to the exposure to ricin in late December, while experts suggest the delay in questioning may be a strategic move to increase psychological pressure on witnesses.
