Italian culinary media launches new seasons amid shifting dining trends

New seasons of culinary television programs are launching in Italy, highlighting shifting trends in the food industry. Joe Bastianich will return with the new season of ‘Foodish’ on Tv8 starting September 7. Bastianich notes that the Michelin-starred restaurant model is facing difficulties, suggesting a move toward more accessible, high-quality, and delicious food such as street food and family-style trattorias.

He also observes that the Italian gastronomic landscape is becoming more international, incorporating influences like kebab, smashburgers, and Oriental cuisine. Regarding Italian wine, he maintains that Italy remains unrivaled in the sub-10-euro price bracket.

Additionally, Ruben Bondì is set to return to Food Network on September 6 with ‘Cucina in balcone con Ruben’. The show, which originated from social media videos filmed on a balcony during COVID-19 lockdowns, focuses on simple, authentic recipes like ricotta and chard cannelloni, aiming to make professional cooking accessible to a wide audience.
