Italian cultural and agricultural figures honored in new book and passing

Raffaele Gareri has released a new book, ‘Il fuoco e la semina’, which explores nearly sixty years of contemporary history in Calabria and Isola di Capo Rizzuto. The work focuses on personal and collective experiences, specifically highlighting the 1967 revolt in Isola Capo Rizzuto. Gareri, whose father was involved in the protest that saw the municipal building set on fire, uses the narrative to preserve historical memory for future generations, reflecting on the social tensions and poverty of the era.

In separate news, Salvatore Loffreda, the regional director of Coldiretti Campania, has passed away at the age of 69. Loffreda dedicated nearly fifty years to the agricultural organization, rising through various roles in Caserta, Reggio Calabria, Cosenza, Salerno, and Avellino before leading the Campania region and Naples federation in 2016. He was a prominent figure in defending local agricultural production and representing farmers through significant economic and environmental shifts in Italy.
