Italian cultural events celebrate Dante Alighieri’s legacy

A new Italian guidebook, authored by Donato Pirovano, offers a concise synthesis of Dante Alighieri’s biography, works and scholarly debates. Divided into four parts, the volume targets students, teachers and general readers, aiming to bridge the gap between academic criticism and popular understanding of the poet’s life and the textual complexities of the Divine Comedy.

At the same time, a cultural meeting titled “Via Dantis” took place in Montereggio, Lunigiana, on 1 August. Organized by the local Proloco and the Centro Lunigianese di Studi Danteschi, the event featured Mirco Manuguerra, founder of the centre, and writer‑critic Davide Pugnana. They discussed Dante’s historical ties to the region, his exile journeys, and ongoing projects such as the Museum of Dante’s House in Lunigiana, highlighting the poet’s continuing influence on local identity and cultural heritage.
