Italian cultural events reimagine the Odyssey through technology and theater

Various cultural initiatives in Italy are utilizing the myth of Odysseus to engage audiences through technology and modern performance.

In Zafferana Etnea, the “Odissea in Sicilia” project at the Parco dei Miti offers an immersive experience combining nature and digital innovation. The program includes 360-degree navigation and a Live-Motion encounter with the character Polyphemus, who is animated and voiced in real time by an actor to interact with families.

In Taranto, the Taras Teatro Festival features “Odisseo Superstar, l’eroe di cui nessuno ha bisogno” at the TaTÀ auditorium. Performed by Collettivo VAN, this musical comedy provides an ironic, contemporary reinterpretation of the epic, portraying Odysseus not as an invincible hero, but as an ordinary man navigating extraordinary circumstances.
