Italian cultural identity increasingly includes enogastronomy

The definition of culture in Italy is expanding beyond traditional museums and fine arts to include nature, science, creativity, and enogastronomy. According to research by Impresa Cultura Italia-Confcommercio in collaboration with Swg, 65% of Italians view enogastronomy as a symbol of Italian cultural identity.

While classic activities such as museum visits, historical site excursions, and theater performances remain highly rated, there is a growing trend toward diverse cultural experiences. These include visits to natural parks, scientific conferences, immersive digital exhibitions, creative workshops, and gastronomic experiences. This shift indicates an expansion of the cultural sector to involve tourism, catering, and service industries.
