Italian cultural institutions host new exhibitions on Thomas Mann and Tommaso Trini

Several art and history exhibitions are opening in Italy. At the Passerini Landi library in Piacenza, the exhibition ‘Thomas Mann and Democracy’ runs from October 19 to October 31. Promoted by the Italo-German Cultural Center and expanded by the Goethe-Institut, the display traces the political evolution of the German author from a monarchist to a staunch supporter of democracy and opponent of National Socialism. It features his BBC radio broadcasts from exile in the United States between 1940 and 1945.

In Milan, the Museo del Novecento is hosting ‘Tommaso Trini: La terra vista dalla luna’ until March 14, 2027. The exhibition honors Trini, an influential independent art critic, journalist, and educator. Part of the ‘Voci del Novecento’ series, the showcase focuses on his work during the 1970s, including his magazine ‘Data’, and his teaching career at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts during the 1980s.
