Italian cultural prizes announced for Sele d’Oro and Premio Nazionale Gentile

The 42nd edition of the Sele d’Oro Mezzogiorno Prize is scheduled to take place from September 3 to 12 in Oliveto Citra. The theme for this edition is “Avvisi di burrasca [?] – Saper essere comunità, affrontare il tempo instabile,” focusing on community resilience amidst geopolitical instability. Featured guests include philosopher Umberto Galimberti, Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, and writer Oscar Farinetti. The event will open with the presentation of a mural by artist Jorit dedicated to journalist Giancarlo Siani.

In Fabriano, the 30th anniversary of the Premio Nazionale Gentile will be held on October 3. Under the theme “Le nuove frontiere dell’umano,” the ceremony will honor several prominent figures. Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi will receive a special jury prize, while immunologist Alberto Mantovani will be recognized in the “Vite di italiani” section. Other awardees include scientist Barbara Mazzolai, economist Daniele Franco, director Marco Tullio Giordana, and photographer Monika Bulaj.
