Italian culture and sport: Wingfoil success and opera at sea

In Italy, diverse cultural and sporting achievements are highlighting regional talents. Wingfoil athlete Allegra Caffi, originally from Spirano, recently secured fifth place in the World Championships. Caffi, who splits her time between the island of Elba and Brazil, is pursuing an Olympic dream in the rapidly growing discipline of wingfoil.

In Imperia, the Vele d’Epoca event featured a unique fusion of opera and maritime tradition. Soprano Angelica Cirillo performed Puccini’s ‘Un bel dì, vedremo’ from Madama Butterfly aboard the historic 1935 vessel ARIA. This collaboration, initiated by owner Serena Galvani, is set to continue as the vessel travels to Naples for the America’s Cup.
