Italian culture: From traditional regional festivals to Lazzaro’s new album

Italian cultural traditions and modern musical expressions are highlighted through various regional and artistic lenses. Historical festivities, such as the Palio in Siena and the Ardia di Sedilo in Sardinia, serve as deep-rooted communal rituals that connect modern identity to medieval or ancient history.

In Tuscany, the Palio dei Micci in Querceta celebrates local heritage through donkey races, while Vico del Gargano maintains its own unique traditions rooted in rural life. These events emphasize the importance of collective memory and local identity.

Complementing these traditional themes, the artist Lazzaro has released a new electropop album titled ‘Feste di paese’ under the Rizoma label. The album explores the concept of the ‘village festival’ as a way to reclaim social connection and childhood wonder. Rather than relying on pure nostalgia, the eight-track project uses an electronic sound to bridge the gap between past communal experiences and the complexities of modern adulthood.
