Italian culture: New literature on silence and the Gioielli di Carta festival
In Italy, new cultural developments highlight the intersection of literature, art, and social awareness. Nicoletta Polla-Mattiot has released a book exploring the value of silence in a modern world dominated by constant noise. The work argues that silence is a necessary tool for human regeneration and public health, suggesting that managing noise levels is a matter of biodiversity and social well-being.
Additionally, the third edition of the Gioielli di Carta festival is set to take place in Monte Sant'Angelo. Curated by Matteo Totaro, the artist book festival will inaugurate at the Battistero di San Giovanni in Tumba on August 22. This year’s theme, ‘In limine: a reflection on the threshold,’ invites artists, typographers, and engravers to treat the book as a total work of art, transforming paper into a unique, handcrafted object.
