Italian dancers claim top spots at world and national dance championships

Salvatore Lanza and Michela Barone, representing Italy, finished 17th at the World Latin American Dance Championships held on 27 June 2026 in Bremen, Germany. The pair competed against 62 couples from 36 nations and had qualified for the world event by securing the vice‑championship at the Italian Nationals.

In a separate national competition, the Livorno‑born duo Filippo Nellie da Varvara Makienkoche won the Italian championship in standard dances and took second place in the Latin American category A1 19/34 at the Italian Championships in Rimini. The couple thanked their dance school and instructors for their support.

Both results highlight Italy’s strong presence in competitive dance sport at both the international and domestic levels.
