Italian Democratic Party members propose new political directions

In Italy, members of the Democratic Party (PD) are voicing distinct ideological perspectives regarding the future of the left. Lorenzo Pacini, an assessor for Milan's Municipio 1 and a potential mayoral candidate, has released a manifesto titled ‘Una cosa di sinistra’. Pacini argues that the political focus must shift from labor to income to address the ‘social emergency’ of low wages, undignified work, and unmet care needs.

Concurrently, Marco Rocco De Luca, a local councilor from Cesena and leader within the Democratic Youth, has issued a provocative political manifesto. De Luca calls for the destruction of the current capitalist system and advocates for breaking free from ‘the imperialist yoke of Trump and the United States’ and ‘Zionist rhetoric’. His statements follow similar controversial remarks from other party members regarding military spending and international alignment.
